Icelandic Rockers ‘KALEO’ Sold Out Show at Glasgow’s O2 Academy
Date: 18th November 2024
Icelandic rockers KALEO took to the stage at the O2 Academy Glasgow on 18th November, delivering a powerhouse performance to a sold-out crowd. From the first chord, the band’s signature blend of blues, rock, and folk kept the buzzing audience spellbound.
Frontman JJ Júlíusson, known for his soulful vocals and commanding stage presence, set the tone with the opener “Break My Baby”. As the deep, bluesy riffs echoed through the Academy, the crowd erupted, their energy feeding off the raw intensity of the band.
The setlist, packed with fan favourites and deep cuts, showcased KALEO’s versatility. The moody “Automobile” had the audience swaying, whilst “Alter Ego” turned the energy up. The band also made room for softer moments, with “I Want More”.
One of the night’s highlights came with “Way Down We Go”. As the stage lights dimmed, the audience joined in word for word. It was “No Good”, however, that truly stole the show. A high-octane performance of the track had the entire room bouncing. JJ’s raspy growl cut through the roaring guitars, and drummer Davíð Antonsson’s pounding rhythms shook the walls. It was a moment of pure, unfiltered rock ‘n’ roll.
KALEO closed their euphoric set with anthemic tune “Rock ‘n’ Roller”. As the house lights came up, the fans left buzzing with the electricity of an unforgettable gig.
If this performance is anything to go by, the band’s journey is far from over—and Glasgow will be eagerly awaiting their return.
