Shed Seven Ends Scottish Leg of Tour in Style At The O2 Academy in Edinburgh

Date: 23rd November 2024

Yorkshire legends Shed Seven lit up the O2 Academy Edinburgh on Saturday night, closing out the Scottish leg of their 30th Anniversary tour in style. With support from fellow Yorkshiremen The Sherlocks, the evening was a vibrant showcase of northern English talent in the heart of the Scottish capital.

The Sherlocks kicked things off with a punchy and energetic set, giving the crowd a taste of their upcoming album, Everything Must Make Sense!, releasing in February 2025. Their anthemic sound and engaging stage presence set the tone for a night of communal celebration and powerful music.

By the time Shed Seven took to the stage, the atmosphere was electric. Frontman Rick Witter, marking his 52nd birthday, commanded the room with his trademark charisma and energy. The crowd serenaded him with a rendition of "Happy Birthday", as he was given a cake by his bandmates.

The setlist was a mix of classics and new tunes, reflecting a year that’s seen Shed Seven defy expectations with two number-one albums in 2024—an achievement that places them among a select few acts in history. The new tracks, including "F:K:H" and "Talk of the Town", were met with the same fervour as beloved hits like "Speakeasy", "Dolphin" and "Going for Gold".

A standout moment came during "On Standby", when the audience spontaneously took the lead, singing the opening song in unison before the band finally had their chance to. It was a reminder of the deep connection between Shed Seven and their fans—a bond forged over three decades of anthems.

The night was further elevated by a guest appearance from Manchester’s Rowetta, whose soulful contributions to tracks from A Matter of Time added a special touch.

After a thunderous encore, the band delivered an emotional rendition of their signature track, "Chasing Rainbows". It was the perfect closer, leaving the crowd singing as they spilled out into the Edinburgh night, many surely carrying the tune into the early hours.

For a band celebrating 30 years, Shed Seven show no signs of slowing down, with yet another sensational show.
