State Champs' European Winter Tour At The O2 Institute In Birmingham

The penultimate night of State Champs' European Winter tour at Birmingham’s O2 Institute was nothing short of electric, with Broadside and The Home Team setting the stage for an unforgettable evening.

Kicking things off, Broadside delivered a seamless 30-minute set that felt over in an instant, with Ollie Baxxter’s undeniable stage presence keeping every eye locked on him. His quick wit and down-to-earth personality made for effortless crowd engagement, while his soaring vocals proved once again why Broadside is always a pleasure to watch live. Their set was the perfect appetiser for what was to come, leaving the crowd hyped and ready for more.

That energy only intensified when The Home Team took over, bringing the night to a whole new level. The four-piece commanded the room with ease, as both longtime fans and newcomers sang every lyric back with unwavering enthusiasm. Their polished sound and dynamic stage presence made it clear why they’re quickly becoming an unmissable act in the scene. By the time their 45 minutes were up, it was obvious that The Home Team had made an impression, leaving the crowd hungry for the main event.

Enter State Champs, who proved from the first note that an evening spent with them is never an evening wasted. With an explosive 21-song setlist, there was barely a moment to catch a breath as the sold-out 2,000-capacity crowd screamed every word back. Derek DiScanio consistently hyped up the audience, showering them with compliments for their energy and dedication. One of the standout moments of the night came when the band brought out Slope’s lead singer during ‘Save Face Story’, adding an unexpected but welcomed twist to the set. Undeniably, ‘Secrets’ was the loudest song of the night, sending the entire venue into a frenzy and capping off a night where every fan left feeling completely fulfilled.

With non-stop energy and a band at the top of their game, State Champs once again proved why they’ve got one of the most dedicated fan bases in Pop Punk.
