Set It Off in Birmingham - One of The Loudest and Most Electrifying Shows of 2025 So Far
The energy in the o2 Institute’s main room built steadily throughout the night, with Call Me Amour warming up the crowd before Point North truly lighting the match for the night. Set It Off frontman, Cody Carson, even joined Point North on stage for a song, giving the audience a thrilling preview of what was to come. By the time Set It Off took the stage, the anticipation was at a fever pitch, and their dramatic entrance – featuring a countdown and an extended intro to Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing – set the tone for a lively and chaotic evening to say the least.
From the very first note, Set It Off commanded the room, with ‘Below the Belt’ getting the crowd jumping and ‘Kill the Lights’ unleashing a rowdiness that Cody himself couldn’t help but comment on. The band’s blend of infectious melodies and sharp musicianship was on full display, particularly during ‘Someone You Don’t Know’, showcasing Cody’s vocal versatility and the band's sheer talent. As the set progressed, ‘Hypnotized’ took the crown as the loudest song of the night, with the audience screaming every lyric back as if their lives depended on it. Carson’s ability to work the crowd is hard to beat, which, if you’ve seen them before you knew. Luckily for most people in the room, this was their first Set It Off show, if not their first gig ever which leaves a lot of bands some high standards to meet. Cody was effortless in getting the room to rally behind his every word regarding the band’s journey and their achievement in selling out a 2,000-cap venue.
Every moment of the show felt meticulously crafted yet entirely natural, a testament to Set It Off’s ability to blend theatricality with raw energy. As the final notes rang out, it was clear that both the band and the crowd had given everything they had, making this one of the loudest and most electrifying shows of 2025 so far.
