Biig Piig 11:11 Album Review

7th February 2025 marked the release of Biig Piig’s latest album, 11:11, perfectly encapsulating the feeling of awakening and new beginnings that the angel number referenced in the title represents. Clocking in at just 29 minutes across 11 tracks, Biig Piig takes us on a journey of excitement, anticipation and reflection. The highly anticipated album follows the 2023 release of Bubblegum and her latest single One Way Ticket, which features in the album. Recorded in studios across Paris and London (where she has now settled into her “first long-term relationship”), 11:11 feels incredibly personal yet deeply relatable.

From the very first track, 4AM, the album establishes itself as a journey, blending dreamy, ethereal vocals with club-ready beats. This is an electrifying start, demanding headphones to fully appreciate its punchy, pulsing bass and kick. Impossible to listen to without nodding your head, the track warrants the title of banger.

With a disco vibe, Ponytail balances smooth vocals with catchy riffs and an unmistakable ‘oonts oonts’ rhythm. The influence of her past club-inspired releases is evident here, making it one of the album’s standout moments.

Cynical offers a brief moment to breathe while still maintaining the album’s overall energy. Biig Piig’s calming vocals take centre stage, showcasing her ability to create intimate yet groovy tracks.

Built on funky synths and an irresistible rhythm, Favourite Girl is impossible to sit still to. The production is mesmerising, with each element working seamlessly to craft a track that feels both nostalgic and fresh. This is, without a doubt, one of my favourites of the album!

Keep Losing Sleep is a brief but instrumentally impressive track. At only one minute long, this dreamy yet punchy interlude is the shortest track on the album.

We are then thrown into the feel-good groove of 9-5. Exploring the sensation of falling in love or crushing, 9-5 is one of the album’s strongest tracks in my opinion. The infectious melody and bouncy production left me wanting more.

In Decimal, Biig Piig embraces her childhood in Spain, delivering sensual and confident lyrics over a smooth instrumental. The bilingual element adds richness to the album’s already diverse sonic palette.

Silhouette leans into a hypnotic groove, with synths and vocals beautifully intertwining. The refrain, “I was just a silhouette,” hits especially hard, capturing a fleeting, almost melancholic sense of self-reflection.

The transition into Stay Home feels appropriate, with the instrumentals taking on a melancholier tone to other tracks. With prominent drums and a chorus built for live performances, Stay Home has an anthemic quality, which I imagine would sound incredible live.

Previously released as a single this year, One Way Ticket is stripped back, featuring deep, warm bass that feels like a comforting goodbye. It is one of the most intimate moments on the album, exploring feelings of grief. Lines like “you’re never alone, just hold on,” highlight the raw lyricism that drew many listeners to Biig Piig’s music – including myself. The song’s reflective tone is reminiscent of her earlier tracks like Oh No and Pingu, making it a nostalgic yet forward-looking piece.

This feeling is concluded in Brighter Day, the final song on the album. This uplifting and hopeful track reinforces the message that “you’re not alone.” The fade-out is the perfect way to end the album, leaving us feeling lighter and ready to hit replay.

Biig Piig crafts a musical world that blends vulnerability with groove, emphasising that this is not just an album, but a journey worth taking. If this is how she is setting the tone for 2025, we can’t wait to see what’s next. With Biig Piig set to embark on a UK, Ireland, and EU tour across February and March, now is the perfect time to dive into this album and experience its magic live.
